Transport Safety Officer (Rizal/Guadalupe)

  • Evaluate current facility conditions, assess risks and implement appropriate corrective-action plans and policies
  • Perform safety surveys and inspections, prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented
  • Drive continuous improvements in safety performance and programs
  • Conduct accident investigation and prepare report identifying possible accident causes and hazards.
  • Plan and implement training for employees in work site safety practices and regulatory compliance
  • Act as a liaison between management, outside local safety agencies, fire inspectors and insurance carriers
  • Create a system for communicating safety and health issues to include:
  • General employee/department safety meeting
  • Formal safety training for safe work practices
  • Posting of various safety communications
  • Development of a safety suggestion system
  • Coordinate and conduct periodic construction site visits to identify unsafe work conditions and practices; document and communicate site visit information
  • Coordinate other supplemental inspections whenever new processes, equipment, substances, or previously unrecognized hazards are found to be present
  • Verify that corrective measures are completed, including recommendations of the safety committee, insurance carrier, fire inspector and/or other safety consultants
  • Review and complete corrective actions for all injury and illness investigation reports within the department
  • Hazard identification and risk analysis
  • Conduct daily inspection of drivers’ fitness to drive, sobriety, uniform and grooming
  • Conduct daily inspection of the vehicle’s road-worthiness before dispatch
  • Issue the daily Safety Clearance of drivers and vehicles that pass the safety inspection
  • Prepare the daily Safety Inspection Report on each driver and dispatched vehicle, as well as those that fail the daily inspection process
  • Submit electronically to the LTFRB a daily Safety Inspection Report at the close of each day of PUV operation, and a monthly summary report within 5 calendar days after the close of every month
  • Conduct Regular trainings/seminars/orientation briefings on road safety matters for drivers and other employees of the transport operator and for members of the local community (LGUs, law enforcers, schools, civic organizations, private sector, etc. in the barangay, city or municipality where the transport organization is registered)
  • Willing to work in the field.
  • Can work in shifting schedule
  • Must be at least High school graduate
  • Has completed the DOLE-approved TSO course
  • Must have a TESDA Certification for Transport Safety Officer
  • Must have an experience or was employed in the road-based public transport industry as operator, driver or allied worker for 2 years
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees and regulatory representatives.
  • Leadership of a diverse work team, with the ability to anticipate and determine resolutions to a variety of issues.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with a wide variety of department personnel.
